The most metallic nail polish: Rose Dawn by Sephora+Pantone

I have a tragic love story to tell you, my dear friend.

Rose Dawn Nail Polish
But first the good news - I found the MOST metallic nail polish among all the nail polished that I have ever tried. We are talking major light-dark gradient, like polished steel. To make things better it has a complex, rose gold type of color, swinging between peach, copper, pink, beige, champagne, all depending on the lighting. And to make you completely ecstatic -

this nail polish is on sale in Sephora for 5$! Even if it is out of stock online, you can find it in stores (I've seen quite a few).
So this shade is called Rose Dawn and it is produced in a limited edition as a result of the collaboration between Sephora and Pantone.
But here is the end of good news. Now we are talking function: texture-wise Rose Dawn is very thick, it literally looks like a liquid metall on a brush. The application-wise it is a streak-fest! HORRIBLE, unbearably streaky.
I had to do my manicure twice, because I have never seen a polish that would drag the whole layer along the brush after 3 light strokes.
metallic nail polishSo the only way I could cover my nail is by putting 3 medium-thick strokes, quickly one after another. There is NO time to spread or even it out. Three strokes or you will have to start over. Imagine that!
Then I appled Sec n Dry by Orly, it was fully dry in about 5 minutes (wow!).
Rose Dawn is opaque in one layer, since the texture is so thick. But it takes some skill to make it work!
Also if you apply it on natural nails, it will highlight every single imperfection of the nail sufrace - that's what a real foil would do as well. So polish your nails in advance or apply gel base.
I would return this, if the result wasn't so astonishingly beautiful. I apologize for repeating it over and over, but Rose Dawn by Sephora+Pantone IS the ultimate metallic nail polish, and it looks mesmerizing (unless you didn't win the streak battle).
So I guess it  is up to you to pick it up or pass it. I think I'll keep it regardless, it's just so freaky gorgeous! Btw Orly Rage, Essie Penny talk are much better candidates for every day use and easy application, but they can not compare on the level of being true foil\metallic.  The Rose Dawn wins the crown of being THE show stopper and the biggest diva of them all.

  1. Hi, does the polish happen to have a Pantone number associated with it? Many thanks!
